City & Colour

A small but crowded theatre in one of the busiest streets in Montreal – St. Denis - welcomed Canada's own Dallas Green - City and Colour. The warm evening began with a performance by Attack in Black, an indie rock band from Welland, ON. The band performed a few tracks off of their newest album, Years (by One Thousand Fingertips) including “Messenger Bird” and “Leaving Your Death in a Flowerbed,” which created a comfortable atmosphere for the night's main event.
In addition to Attack in Black, the audience had the privilege of enjoying an acoustic version of Queens’ “Bohemian Rhapsody” provided by Haris, a roadie travelling with the bands. The audience sang along and all fell into place as City and Colour hit the stage, exciting the audience.
The group played quite a few songs off of their 2008 album Bring Me Your Love, including “What Makes a Man?” and “The Girl.”
Green also did some solo performances, including a cover by Neil Young - “Cowgirl in the Sand” and some newly-written songs.
As an audience member shouted "physically irresistable," Green questioned, "Does anyone ever wonder what makes a person want to shout in such a small theatre?" Many laughed. "No? Just me, then?"
The crowd sang along throughout most of the night and cheered madly before each song.
The evening ended with the hit single “Comin’ Home” off of Sometimes (2005) and the audience, showing their gratitude, gave a standing ovation.
