City & Colour

A small but crowded theatre in one of the busiest streets in Montreal – St. Denis - welcomed Canada's own Dallas Green - City and Colour. The warm evening began with a performance by Attack in Black, an indie rock band from Welland, ON. The band performed a few tracks off of their newest album, Years (by One Thousand Fingertips) including “Messenger Bird” and “Leaving Your Death in a Flowerbed,” which created a comfortable atmosphere for the night's main event.
In addition to Attack in Black, the audience had the privilege of enjoying an acoustic version of Queens’ “Bohemian Rhapsody” provided by Haris, a roadie travelling with the bands. The audience sang along and all fell into place as City and Colour hit the stage, exciting the audience.
The group played quite a few songs off of their 2008 album Bring Me Your Love, including “What Makes a Man?” and “The Girl.”
Green also did some solo performances, including a cover by Neil Young - “Cowgirl in the Sand” and some newly-written songs.
As an audience member shouted "physically irresistable," Green questioned, "Does anyone ever wonder what makes a person want to shout in such a small theatre?" Many laughed. "No? Just me, then?"
The crowd sang along throughout most of the night and cheered madly before each song.
The evening ended with the hit single “Comin’ Home” off of Sometimes (2005) and the audience, showing their gratitude, gave a standing ovation.

Bring Me the Horizon

A happy Easter it was indeed for the wild fans of Britain’s Bring Me the Horizon. Smashing performances by New York’s post-hardcore band The Sleeping and Canada’s Straight Reads the Line set the scene for the young crew to excite the crowd with their explosive sound.
The night began with some inspiring words from The Sleeping’s front man, Douglas Robinson, as he told the crowd to “be open-minded about music and to show respect for all genres.” He explained that although the musicians play heavy metal, that’s not the only sound that exists.
But when the peace died down, all hell broke loose. Lights shut off as little girls screamed. BMTH hit the stage. The band performed five tracks off their latest album Suicide Season. Although guitarist Curtis Ward was not present due to his departure from the band, the group was highly successful at fulfilling the hyper, sweaty crowd with thrilling screams and riveting drums.
Profanities were shouted and the audience was out of control as many leaped their way onto the small stage. The quiet town was awakened.
The electrifying night would have slain the Easter bunny, but luckily, only left a holiday for young ones to remember.
